USA Looks Ahead To Tough Road in Bid for FIBA U17 Men Gold

USA will not take too lightly any of their opponents at the FIBA U17 World Championship for Men after they were drawn in a top heavy Group A on Wednesday, but nor will they stray from their ultimate goal of taking home the gold medal.

Message delivered by the head coach
Don Showalter delivered the message who is the head coach of USA Basket ball Men development team for the year of 2009-2010. It was only after his team was pinched alongside Argentina, China, Egypt, Lithuania and Serbia.

USA team V/s other countries
The head coach said that everybody has a good team when one get to the World Championship. One look at their side of the draw then their team will play a pretty familiar team in Argentina. He further added that the Lithuania team enjoyed great success for the basketball game and their team is hoping to fight them ahead of time. He also compared his team to other countries. He further added in his speech that China snatched the gold medal during the Asian basketball tournament and had achieved pretty nice scores. Egypt is also going to hit back the game with full enthusiasm and Serbia too is going to fight back out as it has energetic players in its team.
Aim to win Gold Medal
He accepted that it seems to be a very competitive group. Obviously they will be happy to be playing in the FIBA U17 World Championship, but by the same token, they play the basket ball game will with full energy and with an idea to win the gold medal.

Team Selection
The USA qualified for the FIBA U17 World Championship for Men by winning last year’s inaugural FIBA Americas U16 Championship in Mendoza, Argentina. The next big step the team going to take in the Americans’ build-up to the tournament - which takes place 2nd July to 11th July - will be their team selection. That process is set for June, when they will hold a training camp in San Antonio, Texas.

Experience as a stepping stone
The head coach, Showalter hopes last year’s experience will serve as a stepping stone for his players and that they can be much better this time around.
